Just put any cylinder that will fit on it. All the talk about a high pressure cylinder is 100% "BS". Have done it for years with no problems.

Well, in defense of the hydraulic cylinder builders, back in the days of AC high pressure system (3400 to 3700 psi), an "M" Farmall was I believe only 1,000 psi, so he&& yes, there was a difference in them. But, today's modern cylinders are far better than that. If you are a sharp operator, you can tell when the disc is almost to the top and just return the lift/lower lever to hold. It will only spike at high pressure when it hits the top and then a couple seconds later.

kinda like playing Russin Roulette.......
A good 1000PSI cylinder will be tested at 3000# ( typically 3x the rated normal pressure), same as air tanks ( 300# tank, tested at 900# )
plumb a worn 1000# cylinder to a real good 3800PSI pump... cycle it a few times... it'll blow, eventually, same as Russian Roulette..
a 1500# cylinder would be burst tested at 4500#....maybe.... and just WHERE was the cylinder made ???

Your big bolted together cylinders will be slow to lift plus after using for a while. It will stretch the bolts to where it will blow end seals. MACK

you'd hope the cylinder has some kind of MFRs part number on it..... BTW a couple hydraulic sites say the burst ( test) pressure is 4X !! not the 3X I was lead to believe.... so a 1000# cylinder 'shouldn't ' fail at 4000PSI which is more than most A-C pumps put out...

A "worn" cylinder??? About the only thing I ever saw worn was the seals, ….which BTW would bleed a little pressure! LOL I've got cylinders around the farm that are probably 60 years old. I did have an old cast iron cylinder split LENGTHWISE when the tail wheel of a plow slammed over a rock or something. Didn't know it until the end of the row when the plow wouldn't lift and oil sprayed all over the back of the tractor.

Official A-C high pressure cylinders are never larger than 2 inch in bore diameter. In fact, I think 1 3/4" is the largest I remember.

Allis hi pressure cyl are "skinny "compared to anything else. I know they made 2 different diameters. I have a couple of each but don't know diameters.
