Here in Illinois, our Farm Bureau's paper, "Farmweek", has nearly all of it's classifieds filled with farmland auctions. There's a completely filled page for their "Auction Calendar" just for the month of November. There are numerous auctions per day, 5-7 in some cases. The highest volume I've ever seen. Acreages range from 28.2 - 700 & everywhere in between.
Are other states seeing similar farmland auctions? Edited by AC7060IL - 09 Nov 2018 at 7:54am |

Four full pages on this site, a few already sold. https://www.landwatch.com/Missouri_Auctions
Seems retirements and lack of interest except to the money value by the children are driving these. Neighbor farm just sold, the still living owners sold to a close relation just 80 acreswith home and buildings but had planned on it going to sale if he had not bought it. |

There never have been all that many land auctions in this part of the country, maybe one or two per month. Not many farm equipment auctions anymore either, less then one a week this fall. Not as many farms around and a lot have already consolidated I guess.

The big just keep suckin up the little guys.---Problem with that is they can't handle all they got! An 80a. down the road from me didn't get planted this year because the guys that had it rented can't cover the 60,000a that the 2 bros. control ! The owner lost the income from his farm this year! You can't depend on hired help to work without someone ridin' their azz all the time! They just laughed the missed farm off and said that many of their rented farms get missed!! NO big deal to them! I would LOVE to see these hogs go belly up!!! LOL!!! All they do is destroy the land, (never put on any fertilize), then move on to someone else's land! Land around me is for sale all the time. Just got a card from Heartland Bank wanting to sell 80 some acres over by Danvers.---The owners up the road here are still trying to sell 80a prime cropland. Nobody has the money to invest in land, ( sad but true) . The only auctions worth going to are the annual consignment sales! thanks; ac fleet
