The ib is so low and maneuverable it should make a decent lawn mower. Many still have sickle mowers, but they are not meant for lawns. What about rotary mowers?
Online, I see 1 sold at Mecum Auction with a L59, but belt was missing - possibly belt kept popping off custom mule pulleys? Any experience with a rotary or sickle mower on an ib cutting your lawn? ![]() |

Bolens made a belly mower that had a frame under the PTO shaft with an angle drive gear box off the pto... then a horizontal pulley with a long belt that ran up front and around the 3 spindles... one belt...... I bought one and modified it to fit a B that had rotated axle housings to make it into an Orchard B tractor... Works pretty good... deck is 72 inches wide.... Not a lot of ground clearance.. Got to watch the ditches..
The IB has a 6 inch shorter torque tube.. Since i started with a "Standard B" i have an extra 6 inches between the tires.. ![]() Edited by steve(ill) - 14 Nov 2022 at 4:13pm |

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

WOODS mowers use only a single belt to drive all three spindles.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |

Spent many hours on a IB with a L59 Woods mower on it. Haven’t had any issues with it.

Here are some more pictures of the same IB and Wood's Mower. Not much clearance between the Tires to raise the Deck. https://www.google.com/search?q=For+Sale+Allis+Model+IB+with+belly+mower.&sxsrf=ALiCzsY4JR-GiAsek6N2AGsw7ba_VNlssw%3A1668649237610&source=hp&ei=FZF1Y73hIoCEwbkPuaCJqAc&iflsig=AJiK0e8AAAAAY3WfJRcwDMEQ4IPi37rFyR-LRyCokZag&ved=0ahUKEwj9v73oirT7AhUAQjABHTlQAnUQ4dUDCBI&oq=For+Sale+Allis+Model+IB+with+belly+mower.&gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAwyBwghEKABEAoyBwghEKABEAo6CQgjECcQRhD7AToECCMQJzoLCAAQgAQQsQMQgwE6BQgAEIAEOgUILhCABDoICC4QgAQQ1AI6CwguEIAEEMcBENEDOgsILhCABBCxAxDUAjoLCC4QgAQQxwEQrwE6FAguEIAEELEDEIMBEMcBENEDENQCOg4ILhCABBCxAxDHARDRAzoICAAQgAQQyQM6EQguEIAEELEDEIMBEMcBENEDOggIABCABBCxAzoGCAAQFhAeOgUIIRCgAToICCEQFhAeEB06CgghEBYQHhAPEB06BQghEKsCUABYw64CYPjsAmgAcAB4AIABqQOIAfE0kgEKMC4zNy4wLjMuMZgBAKABAQ&sclient=gws-wiz#imgrc=Kyo8O_0S4iAJIM |

That tractor running 12.4x24 tires added more ground clearance at the expense of rear tires very close to rubbing on mower deck.
