Yesterday I put my IB back together.  This time I assembled the pressure plate without any washers between it and the flywheel. They were recommended to get to the 1 13/16" between the fingers and the disk face per the Allis service manual. With the 1 13/16" there was no gap between the fingers and the bearing surface.  So this time I simply adjusted the fingers to 1/4" with the throwout bearing all the way back. I cleaned the input shaft spline thoroughly to make certain there was no residue in the grooves.  I applied spline grease to the input shaft spline and tip and clutch disk.   It appears I'm getting approx. 1/2" compression of the fingers with the pedal all the way down.   However, the clutch still takes forever (up to 1 minute) to disengage.

I looked at the clutch assembly for the CA in the service manual and it states that the fingers should be adjusted to 1 1/2" from the clutch disk. After assembly, the clutch rod should be adjusted to get the 1/4" gap to the bearing.  I thought everything from the bearing to the flywheel was the same on the B,C, & CA.  Although this makes more sense than the 1 13/16" I can't imagine this procedure will produce a different result than what I did. 

This tractor is driving me crazy. This is the 3rd time I've split this critter.  I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about the damned thing. Aaaah!

All of my tractors, when IN GEAR, i can push in the clutch and change gears no problem.. I have a couple tractors that dont like to be in NEUTRAL spinning, then push in the clutch to enagage a gear... I have to throttle down to engage, and even then, one of them dont work very good..... Going from gear to gear is definitely the easy way.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.
