![]() ![]() This was the sky last night while I was Field cultivating the last acres. Rains were close, but I lucked out and only got some sprinkles. ![]() This is May 11th after a 3" rain. There are soybeans no-tilled into cleaned strips on May 5th following a 2014 soybean crop. I use Yetter residue managers on a JD7000 no-till planter. This field has been no-till since 2011. ![]() This is the same May 11th 3 inch rain, but these soybeans were planted April 26th. They are just beginning to emerge. ![]() Behind the 7040, you can see the soybean growth (30"tall) of the April 26th planted soybeans. This last planted corner of the field has some serious water hemp weed problems that I wanted to use tillage to control them better. Thats when the rains started and haven't let up till now..

Oh, Don't feel bad. I still plan on putting in a few acres of oats that I will use for hay. I really don't have an excuse for being so late, though. Darrel

Planted my last field of corn on july 3, officially making it the latest crop I ever planted by 1 day. That was in the same field about 12 years ago. That year, we were baling hay on one side of the field and plowing on the other at the same time. This is corn just to be chopped, that was the plan all along. Would have switched crops, but seed already bought and paid for, and N already on before the last rains. So I'll take what she gives me for chop.

critter, at the moment, it is one of the better looking cornfields in the county / area believe it or not! I put an additional 100# of N on it, now totaling about 250#. I intended to put an additional 100
# of K on it too, but the spreader didn't fit the rows. I'm still nervous, we'll see what happens when it begins to set ears. Thank you for asking. Edited by Tbone95 - 15 Jul 2015 at 11:55am |

I finished up my last 40 last night as well, it was the first time that field dried up enough to even walk in. I took off work at 1:00 on Monday and my dad came by after 4 and we got it all ordered up. I was on a d21 with a 18 foot 2200 disc and dad was on a 210 with a 19.5 foot field cultivator. The weeds were thick and tall and the ground was as hard as concrete. Then I got it planted on the 14th, Madison's first birthday ( my daughter ) I did get a few shots of the ol 21 rolling smoke while I was pulling her guts out and some of dad when he was close. I am just a little glad someone else is as late as me. I did see today on my way home some friends running hard to get planted.

dustin, your comment "a little glad someone else is as late" makes me laugh too. Guy at the local fert store, nice enough guy, but can be a little......cocky. Likes to make fun of people for being dumb and slow when things aren't going their way. He bought a 120 acre hunk of property this year, he never really farmed before just helped family. It is still sitting half worked, no seeds.
