Double Rainbow
This Double Rainbow appeared and within two minutes disappeared, leaving no evidence that it had ever been there at all.
There was no need to seek any Pot of Gold as this was in Russell County, Kentucky; one would be lucky to find two twenties at the end of a Russell County Rainbow.

Tree Ablaze with Color
By the time I went inside and fetched a camera,the impressiveness of this scene had diminished by about 50%; within seconds of taking the photos, the magic was gone.
Notice how the orange is reflecting on the big limb.
This is just exactly what the camera captured; the color has not been enhanced in any way.

Ice-covered Trees
It is hard in these situations to get the camera to capture what my eye is seeing; the bright round sun was back-lighting these ice-covered trees and the ice was sparkling like Diamonds.

Weird Tumor-like Growth on a Cedar Tree
The bright orange masses are quite sticky and gooey.
The spiny ones are hardened and dry.
I am assuming that the one becomes the other.
This is not an every year thing; I might see several one year and then none for a few years.

Google Cedar- Apple rust, for the picture 1st above the last post. Its a strange fungus, affects both cedars, where the spore is released, and Apples, where the spores land to lay waste to Apples. In orchard country, the old time farmer's solution was to eradicate all cedars close by to orchards...

Last year, there was only one of these and everytime I walked by there was at least one Butterfly on it and often more; this year, there are at least half-a-dozen and I have not seen a single Butterfly.

Manitowoc Lattice Boom Crawler Crane at Wolf Creek Dam
They have removed Flood Gate #8 of 10.
There are more Flood Gates on that Barge than came out of that hole; I don't know why; maybe spares.
There are at least three big JLG Man Lifts on that barge as I have seen that many up in the air at one time.

Across the lake is Pikes Ridge Campground at the end of Pikes Ridge Road, accessed via Gumm Road off the South side of KY76 at Yuma; 6.5-miles from the campground to KY76 on a very crooked road with some very steep grades.
When I was a kid and the lake was new, there was a big marina at Pikes Ridge; the marina has been long gone.
