KY Hwy 80 East - Russell Springs - Russell County - Kentucky

Goose Creek Bridge

South side of KY80 - Looking South/Upstream

Goose Creek defies common sense and has it's beginnings from deep within the Cumberland River watershed, ending up in Green River.

According to the WatersGeo.EPA.gov, Goose Creek is only 1.82 JapMeters long; I tend to doubt that; in fact, I just Crow-flied it from point-to-point at 11-American Miles, ignoring the fact that it is at least twice that if not more following it's many meanders and horse-shoe bends.

It also says Goose Creek is Navigable; if you started up it in a BirchBark Canoe, you would carry it way more than ride in it.

Goose Creek__Origin
South side of KY910; East of Pine Top Road
300-yards from Casey County and 3/4-mile from Pulaski County
37.104875°  84.916052°  Elevation  1,131'

4.08-miles as the Crow flies from Origin to the KY80 Bridge.

Goose Creek__Crosses Russell/Casey County Line
Western side of Brock Road
37.140166°  84.997623°  Elevation  796'

2.3-miles as the Crow flies from the KY80 Bridge to the County Line

US Hwy 127__Goose Creek Bridge at Dunnville
37.199952°  85.004485°  Elevation  745'

4.16-miles as the Crow flies from the County Line to the US Hwy 127 Goose Creek Bridge at Dunnville

Mouth of Goose Creek at Green River
37.203153°  85.010821°  Elevation  720'
At this point, Goose Creek is nearly as big as Green River itself.
The February-2024 Satellite View at these coordinates shows a lot of receding flood-waters in this area.

0.41-miles as the Crow flies from the US Hwy 127 Goose Creek Bridge to the Mouth of Goose Creek at Green River

Add all this up and you get 10.95-miles in four Crow flights with a 411-foot Elevation drop of from 1,131-feet to 720-feet.
