Still working on reproduction of WD & WD-45 TRACTORS, WD-45 DIESEL ENGINE, D14 service manual. Here is the picture of the original i have that predates the 79 version:

http://www.allischalmers.com/forum/wanted-to-buy-original-section-of-service-manual_topic138668.html

I am trying to find a copy of the miscellaneous section that was added to this manual that replaced pages 4 through 10 of the WD-45 Diesel section. Does anyone know what the publication name or the supplement number is for the miscellaneous section that was added to this pre- 1979 version of the service manual?.

Not ready yet. I'm at least a few weeks out from being ready to do test prints for final checks on errors and making sure contrast and hues are correct for printings.

I'm about 3/4 done, not including the miscellaneous section. I'll be doing some test prints later this week. Is there something you need or want to see as far as what the finished product will look like? This reproduction is a complete remastering of the original. Going at break neck speed, but also really taking my time with this one. It will be printed on 32lb paper as well (slightly heavier than normal laser print paper) to prevent any bleed through. This one will be a real work of art.

Some samples of how thorough I'm being. these aren't the final images, but it will give you some sense of the attention to detail I'm following. These are all close ups. Before images show errors outlined in yellow. These are printing errors caused by damage to the printing plates that were used to create the originals. After images show corrections. These are close ups of works in progress, not the finished product.

If there are any requests, I can completely finish a few pages so you can get a sense of what the final product will look like?

The diesel section I have are pages are from a used service book as in the example of page 10... thus they are not pristine anymore. down sizing this scan from 821 to 199kb made it look speckled. And it was set on only 200 pixel to scan instead of 600. lol

What has always baffeled me was AC took the Buda engie 6-DA-230 and stuck it in the tractor.  The industrial engine ran at 2400 RPM @ 60 HP , and the tractor was 'detuned' to 45HP @ 1625, 800 RPM's less. The industrials would run years without giving trouble... and in the tractor, there seemed to be some troubles. And now, despite such troubles, people are wanting them... eye2Confused LOL

I have the SM-5 book you have there and that says :
  NOTE:
the information previously found on pages WD-45 Diesel 4 thru 10 will now be found in the Fuel Injection Data Section:

The information I have of the injection pump was simply with the "WD-45" Diesel engine section, starting with a simple manila colored spacer page with it labeled on the edge, "WD-45" Diesel engine .   There is no referencing any publication other than at the bottom simply saying, WD-45 Diesel .  Probably came out of a larger AC shop manual that was a 5 binder... and the WD, WD-45 section in this 3 binder also looks like that was in a 5 ring.  These pages/sections may have been removed from master binder when new repair books came out with the D14, D17 and included the WD & 45 in there.
Look for dealer order forms of 1956 for shop repair manual... maybe they might have a bit more info.
  Sorry I can't help further.

That's the million dollar question? Is the miscellaneous section from the 79 Allis version that predates the Deutz Allis 79 version a hodge podge of different manuals, or is there a 60's Allis miscellaneous supplement publication that matches exactly the content of the miscellaneous section of 79 versions?

There is no difference between the content of 60's Allis Version and the different 79 reproductions except for the miscellaneous section.

Having gone over different source materials and looking at the miscellaneous section of the 79 Allis and Deutz Allis versions, I suspect there was miscellaneous section printed in the 60's (5 ring) that matches exactly the 79 versions in content, but I do not know this for a fact. Trying to get confirmation.

Do you consider the " Fuel Injection Data Section:" to be one of the sections in the miscellaneous section?  I had the data section on injection servicing at one time but at present don't know where that is, but it did not go into detail as much as the W-45 Diesel section did... they were more into the roosemasters and newer.

Yes. I've obtained two different Fiat Allis Fuel injector manuals and can tell you these manuals were produced after the 60's version of the service manual and contain illustrations that are included in the 79 reprints, but in vastly superior quality. The miscellaneous section of the 79 versions contains info on valves, carburators, Roosa injection pumps and tools needed to service them, Transmission overhaul info for the CA,D14, D10, D12, D15, H3 and HD3 tractors and info on magnetos and distributors. So, the content of the miscellaneous section is not limited to just the WD-45 Diesel although some source material used would certainly match or be identical to that of WD-45 Diesel service manuals of the same period.

Form SM1 :

Form MS2:

SM must mean service manual... what were 3 & 4 for?

I got into another shop manual book that is older than the triangle A/c logo and this book just says GENERAL Section ...  for carbs and mags, air cleaners, trouble shooting (diagnosing), tires weighting, power curves of different AC engines, etc....
Farther back in the shop service manual is the WD-45 Diesel  Supplement No. 28, and on page 4, it says Supplement 41.
Supplement No. 41 is the FUEL INJECTION DATA  ..... So when did they start and quit with the SM Lettering ?   This data lists even the 190XT 2900 data, and D-21.
Maybe the book form was for the customers and the free sheet binder manuals were for the dealers/shops?

I am not certain; I've only been an Allis owner for a little over a year. This reproduction project started out as a way for me to better understand and be able to work on my tractor and as a way to make a little extra money to maintain the old girl. Reproducing this service manual has become a real labor of love and in the end I think my reproduction will not only be a functional and useful tool for myself and others, but will be a real work of art.

I'm not going to give up. If a 60's miscellaneous section exists for this version of Service manual 5, I'll find it eventually or I'll track down every source image from the other manuals used to create it.

I have operators and parts illustrations manuals almost ready to go and will be completing work on parts books reproductions soon (a matching cd/pdf copy of the current AGCO Allis parts books with current part numbers will be provided free with the different parts books I'm reproducing).

What I think you are looking for is SUPPLEMENT No. 41 that was probably included in the GENERAL section.
Well that is the conclusion I came to looking at my books.

So, in the event that the miscellaneous section does not exist or that I will be unable to find one, I will now include illustrations from the miscellaneous section in order that members may be able to identify what manuals these came from. Some images which I have not included came directly from the WD and WD-45 operator and parts illustrations manuals. Some of the photos come from the original pages 4-10 that were replaced in the 60's version. I will put a star next to the illustrations where a source has been identified and question marks next to illustrations who's source I have not yet identified. Everyone's help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, -TJ

The first set of illustrations is Carbs:

Zenith Series 61 and 161 carbs used on WC, B & C tractors:

???

???

???

Zenith series 62 Carbs:

???

???

Zenith Series K carbs:

???

Zenith Series C6EV carbs:

???

Next section, Fuel injection Pumps and tools to service them. Since some of the illustrations have been identified as pages 4-6 of original service manual that were replaced by new miscellaneous section, some of these illustrations may be found in WD-45 Diesel operator or service manuals?

???

???

???

???

???

???

???

???

???

???

Star This illustration has been identified as being taken from the original WD-45 Diesel Section of the Service manual prior to the 60's version where pages 4-10 were removed.

Next Section, Magnetos:

Bendix C-4 Magneto and unknown Fairbanks Morse magneto:

Fairbanks Morse RV4 Magneto:

Thanks in advance to any and all help in identifying what owners, parts or service manuals these illustrations come from. -TJ
