I'm painting my HD7 this weekend .. starting to look nice .. Next weekend will be changing oil and all the filters .. Anyone know how much oil a 3-71 holds .. Will the
fuel filters need to be blead after changing , or if I fill them will they gravity feed ..
What other oil should I be checking .. there must be rearend oil , trany oil .. I see oil
plugs on the back sprockets on the inside of the tracks .. this machine looks like it has some of the old type button grease zerks .. should I change them or find a grease end to grease them .. Thanks again for your help ... Mark

Your HD7 would be similar to the HD5, as far as lube. 3-71 Detroit use Rotella or other Series 3 or higher oil, I use 15/40 Rotella, those lower plugs are final drive and use GL5 lube. 80/120,  Trany and ring gear use a GL5 or can use a high grade oil SAE 50 or above.
Track rollers and such use a semi-fluid or SAE90 or above as they are timken bearings and not bushings. Could use gun grease grade 000 but not to pressure fill with normal zerk
Pre fill filter and housing and the 71 will most times prime itself

It would be of great benifit to you if you could aquire all the manuals for this machine. There may be some reproductions or used manuals available.
