Does anyone have an exhaust manifold for the HD344 , 6000 or 7000
My information says that it was known as the second design on the HD 344 and 6000 engine and standard on the 7000 engine. It is cast iron with the exhaust pointing up with provision for the turbocharger on the 7000 engine. Part number 74339512

OR a muffler for an HD344 The muffler on the HD6G that I am rebuilding is full of holes and the cast iron exhaust manifold is an exelent replacement.

George, all my HD6s would have had the factory integrated muffler/manifold from new. When those rotted, the owners fabricated manifolds welding steel hollow sections together and used lightweight straight stacks on them. Quite noisy tractors. I mounted a verticle muffler on one, but because HD6 hood is so narrow, couldnt cut hole in hood to allow muffler to sit down low right on top of manifold to avoid vibration cracking you get with higher mounted mufflers. The muffler hole would have sliced right through the folded side of the hood, destoying it. After constant crack repairs, I went back to the light straight stack, and used hearing protection. The hoods on HD11s are wide enough for the verticle muffler to go right through them and sit directly on the manifold. No vibration cracking with those. The cast manifolds for 344s I have only seen on 7000s and are impossible to get here unless you buy a 7000 engine. Years back, HD6 owners grabbed them up to turbo their tractors    Mac

Thanks for the info. I used the 7000 engine exhaust manifold on my other HD6G with an automotive glass pack muffler. The muffler I used is about 5 inches round by 14 inches long mounted streight up. It quiets the machine quite a bit but I still wear hearing protection. I fabricated a flange and a short stack to get thru the hood. I remove the muffler when I cover the machine for storage. I didn't want to fabricate a header so that is why I am looking for a 7000 manifold.
