Have a chance to pick up a HD5 Crawler loader for $2000, runs perfect ive heard it run many times as im good friends with the owners son. Its sat in their garage for 3+ years and we start it once a month to run it and lift the hydraulics BUT it doesnt move cause he pulled the steering clutches out cause they went bad and he has never found a set.
Is it possible to still get these parts for a REASONABLE price? Is it a good deal for whats there? Thanks everyone --Taylor |

Sounds like a deal to me. Wish I could find a useable track loader for under 3K. I don't know what that weighs but that's probably only about scrap price.

there's still good used parts out there but you gotta really act quick when you spot or hear of them .unfortunatly i have seen two good usable as parts hd dozers go to scrap in the last year the scrappers are like vultures nowadays .i'm not sure if new parts are still available but clutch plates should be ,and if he still has the old one's maybe can use some parts there .look around the old dozers are still there you'd be surprised where you can find em but act quick their dissappering fast

I have a bunch of fiber clutch discs for the clutches , (used ) that I will sell cheap.
Other option is to find HD11 ceramic clutch discs . Either way there are parts out there for the machine and still can be found . Your friend must not have looked to hard .
Steering clutches are not that hard to rebuild , then depending of why they are out , what is missing from them and also of what you plan on doing with machine when your done.
I put the ceramics into my machine as i got a fantastic price o nthem when i bought some of the metal spacers. I have over a set of the fibers as I have the ones from my machine and another i rebuilt , but I do not have many steel spacers .

i have all center parts for them minus the discs. i may have a few drums also. does he still have any parts of the old clutches? i have taken them apart when they are frozen and reused alot of the discs once apart. you must be patient when taking them apart though. if you have he money i would also recommend the ceramic discs also, it stops the frozen clutches if it sits alot.
