A friend that I sold a 670T combine engine to last year called to say they threw a rod through the block on their 8010 going down the road with a load of  manure today. Said there was no warning. The rod broke about 2" above the journal. He wondered what I thought about installing the 426 in the 8010. I don't know but would guess the devil would be in the details.
Has anyone done it ????

Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed

Not done it, but things to consider......#1. If it is a Power Shift, the 8010 trans has a 'cheapened up" planetary carrier for 110 HP output....I'd be wary of putting more than 130 HP thru that tranny. Power Director would be fine. #2. You'll need a radiator out of an 8030/8050 to be able to connect things and to have enough BTU capacity to keep the engine cool. #3. Probably all new A/C hoses and brackets for the compressor. #4. Side frames are different. #5. Air cleaner connections are different........There will be many other misc things that won't be correct to complete the job.

Saw one that had been done in the past year at the local dealer last month. Side rails are already drilled to accept either engine (universal).  Might want to contact Jim IA for more info about how much work it was.
