Got old all of a sudden, cannot explain where all the time went. Looking out of my eyes the world appears no more aged than when I finished trade school, 1976.
49 Years ago.
I look down at my hands, the scars, the road maps of tenuous efforts, i catch myself looking, remembering of women as young as those around me now that looked back, none do anymore. Face in the mirror, the thick in spots thin in others skin, then think who is that old fud.

Scars, have plenty, some hide mire serious issues, some hidden by serious issues. My road map is a mass atlas, and I cannot remember much of that trip.

Here too Dave. I remember when I was about 22 or 23 I worked with a man that was about 20 years older than me. He made a comment one time about "how old" his hands looked. Now when I look down my hands look just like his did. My few grey whiskers seem to be getting more abundant and my little girls aren't little anymore. I thank God for the life I've had so far but I sure do wish I could go back and enjoy more of it

Yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not guaranteed, so make the most of today. God has blessed me throughout my life but there are things that I would do over if I could. Now there is a lot more sand in the bottom of the hourglass than there is in the top.
BTW….today is Grouchy Old Man’s Day and I demand respect 😁.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

DANG Hubert, I wish I had known that earlier today!!  I demand respect too, but the only respect we will get is from our peers.  The young whipper snappers today will actually SHUT a door in front of THEIR grandmother.

The only thing (so far) that bothers me is the thin skin.  You bump just anything....blood.

I definately have a bad case of old man skin. I can’t hear worth a flip and my eyesight is fading fast.
I get frustrated that I can’t lift or do what I should be able to.
I find that the eye sight fading and chronic back pain are my worst trouble as I age.
Glad the good Lord has given me the life, family and friends he has. Wouldn’t change the blessings but would have sure tried to be more deserving of them.
Wish I had taken better care of this old bag of bones as well.
Funny thing is, I was a very young pup when I first visited this forum.

This all became abundantly clear to me several years back when, leaving an work site after completing a referb of a damaged medical device. It was an involved job and had taken hours longer than it should have, and at one point, one of the dear sweat young ladies in the lab asked if I would like a chair! I must have looked really bad! Then, finally returning to the truck to go home, getting off the elevator in the dimly light parking garage, I meet a young, very well dressed, very pretty girl, headed to the same elevator I had just vacated. As we pass, she looked me square in the eye and gave me this big, beautiful smile and said 'Hi'. This caught me off guard, as normally in this situation, dark desolate area, late in the evening, meet a pretty lady she would not make eye contact, steer a little wide as she passes, and pick up her cadence just a little....that was normal. But not this lady. She smiled, eye contact, and a pleasant greeting.
I thought about this all the way home. Told my bride about it. I had concluded that it was because she viewed me as safe! no longer able to be man enough to be harmful, somebody's grandpa (which I was and am)! My bride said I was stupid, she was a 'working woman'. Hum.....well maybe, but still, in either case, I am so old that the only attention I can draw from the younger fairer sex is for money, or pity! It was that day that age hit me right in the face!! That handsome young stud I see in the mirror every morning is wayy older that I thought!
I am still confident of this;
I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Ps 27
