Ah yes the outboard bearing and seal area - common problem - or should say nothing new on machines with no outboard support to axle .
Remove the housing - take to machine shop that does truck transmissions and such , they will bore out case - install a steel machined piece to hold bearing and seal - then weld it to cast .
Problem fixed - both sides of my HD 4 were done this way - one before i bought machine and I had one done . I also  had this done on my FD5 dozer.

Will say get it fixed right as the bull gear and top gear shaft - drive and driven - will choke you on price if you have to find them .

I am in the process of taking it off now. having a heck of a time getting the snap ring back to the center. everything is loose except the 4 bolts inside but cant get to them until I get the clutch out. I would like to find another case but I thought about taking it to a machine shop. not sure what either would cost but tears will flow anyway. thanks norm

Memory has it I paid around $500 for the machine work on HD4 case , found one used one but that case had same problem with loose bearing race area but held seal .Passed on that .
