Hope someone can save it from scrap. Heck of a nice barn find! |

wow that's a nice A ! Reminds me of the one I bought just for the tires, actually used it twice (still have some oats I gleaned...) then gave to Ron Buttrum on his 79th or 78th. A great Allis guy so I know it went to a 'good farm' ! Wife'd definitely kill me if it showed up here.....

It is a nice combine, it does not need to go to China on a scrap boat.

I can't make out the serial number, but it looks like 20,000 something. I think it's newer than 1957 because of the engine, a G-230. In my mind that generation of engine didn't come until the D-19 tractor (G-262) in late 1960 or 61. Regardless, it would make someone a nice machine whatever the age.

It would have to be one of the last A because of long back, late spreader, oval fuel tank, wide rear axel, and late type (D19) manifold. MACK

Which I would call and A-2, not an "A".

Serial looks like 20259 or 28259. Didn't A2s have the gauges on the right instead of steering wheel?

My 67 A2 had gages on rt console. It was a great little combine for it's size. 13ft platform with the hart carter floater added run off a M&W robot. Had a 3-30 corn head as well.It was tiny against the F2 I replaced it with.....which is small against the R62.

looks like a late model A, the A2 have a flared grain tank, or that's what I look for

Defiantly a late A. Steering wheel and rear says it's late. Not a AII which has the wider bin flare out. I've bought whole combines just to get the original drive tires for D-14/15's that I want to keep real original.

Over a $1000 and a hour left! Should be more than scrap price.

It for sure didn't go for scrap! I paid $500 for an A with a cab and three row 30" head and 12' pickup head, sold it for $900 to a guy that only wanted the machine with the corn head. Finally made money on a deal!
