Saturday_22-August-2026 As Seen from Green River Dam Boat Ramp Looking Downstream 1977 KY Hwy 55 Green River Bridge KY Hwy 55 Mile #2.6(31) Green River Mile #305.1 As close as I can find, this bridge was built about 1977\78; I know for fact that in early spring of 1978 old KY55 crossed back and forth over the new construction numerous times between Columbia and Campbellsville. The creation of this bridge was a huge improvement over the treacherous hill and dead-man's curve on the South end of the Tebb's Bend one-lane Iron Bridge next downstream from here. Saturday_22-August-2026 As Seen at Green River Dam Green River Dam Standpipe Control Tower The flow of water under the dam is controlled within this tower. From the point where the water enters this stand-pipe, through the Dam, until it exits on the other side = 703' at 211.13° The Dam itself lies at 151.09° If my math is correct, the river flow passes under the dam at an angle of 60°; there must be a reason for this instead of going straight through at the center. The bulk of what you see is Robinson Creek; Green River disappears to the left in a narrow channel between that point of trees in the left midground and the line of trees in the background; the majority of the Lake is water backed up in Robinson Creek. This is the first time I have ever seen this when there weren't at least a hundred Buzzards perched all over the top; zooming in close reveals what looks to be "hot wire" electric fence around the top edge and it is probably also stretched back and forth across the top; maybe I'm wrong and it isn't hot wire, but that would explain the absence of Buzzards.
