Took her a bunch of live Flowers and the wife took her some home grown fried Chicken that she fried yesterday while I was out making fence. Have to refence the garden so those filthy darn chickens won't destroy her garden. Frost got here taters. She is hoping they come back. We could not remember the year dad passed away. I was gonna go by the cemetery and look but forgot to. It sucks getting old and hurting all the time.

Tom yes it sucks getting old but the alternative is unacceptable.  It is somewhat easier for me to remember my parents  passing....  May 10th and Aug 10th 2016.

I'm not interested in when they passed.  I enjoy remembering all of the different times we had together.  And Yes it does suck forgetting.  What were we talking about?

Names are my biggest problem to remember, usually remember face but putting a name on them is a killer. I called and talked to my mother yesterday afternoon, she is 93 and in a assisted living and you can't go see her.

I'm in the same boat Tom.  She's in assisted living also.  I went to see her with my 2 of my sisters.  We can see her through her window and talk to her on our cell phones.  She was really happy to see us all together.  Made her day!!  And she is also 93.  Can't remember the recent much, but from 20+ years ago she is really good and she is in really good health.  71 years ago, I was her Mother's Day gift.  I was born on the Saturday before.  She still says it was the best Mother's Day gift she ever got.  LOVE YOU MOM!!

I hear ya!  The orthopedic surgeon said something like "Congratulations, you have a trifecta."  He meant I have 3 separate spinal ailments.  WooHoo!!!  Yeah, old age & pain.  There's a saying:  "Old age is not for sissies!".  As far as memories, 3 of my 4 grandparents and both of my parents died in nursing homes.  I choose to try to forget the time in the nursing homes and remember the good times.  Fishing, hunting, ball games, family dinners, great food, golf with my grandfather, all the work we did on the farms, etc.  A great many good memories.  I think that's how all 6 of them would want to be remembered.

Most of my family did not make Nursing Care. Grands on Dad's side, Gpa was gone by age 72, Gma at 82. Mom's Dad at 60 and Gma on her side did make a nursing care facility but for less than a year died at 101. My Mom was gone at 64, Dad checked himself into a Assisted Center at 77 then passed at 83. Mom's Side Grandma's kin lived well into 90s but most passed at home in their sleep or just after a health incident hospitalized.

I should be so lucky to not have to enter a Nursing Home.
