I know these are trying times but,,,,,,,,,

  I had something happen the other day that is still chapping my butt to no end and knowing there are several here in the first responder business,,,I wanna throw out there for comments,,,,,

 On Tuesday bout 11AM or so,,,I was working on lapping valves on the BBC heads when I heard a trk drive up and stop across the street. I Looked out the north window and see a fairly new ford trk driven by a blond haired woman parked in front on our mailbox across the street. Not recognizing it as a postal delivery trk, I stepped out of shop and was intending to hollar at them to see,,WTH,,, I could see there was another person in passenger side but could not tell if male or female and did not actually see that person get anything or put anything in mailbox. Bout then the woman looks out and BACK down the street and  when she seen me looking at them,,,she hauled azz down the road and ran the stop sign at main highway, shot across the 4 lane and kept going west,,,I figured they had got something out of our mail box so I jump in the car and followed them,,they run another stop sign and kept going west and over a hill headed to a one row trailer park over there.  I finally get to the hill and don't see the trk but a dust cloud. I drive down the one road and bout halfway down the road I see the same colored trk parked in front of a trailer,,,I was driving real slow to get the license plate number and what looks like the same blond haired woman steps out of the trailer and when she sees me ,,she steps back into the trailer so I jot down the plate number and drive back home.

 Long bout that time I have to take the wife to a Dr's appointment in C-bad,,so I did not do anything.

 The next day, I go to the Post Office and ask to talk to the Post Master. He tells me that is out of their jurisdiction and I should talk to the Sheriff's dept. I asked him if that is not a federal issue and he says for me to go talk to Sheriff dept. I finally get time to call Sheriff's dept last nite and they send a sure enough Barney Fife deputy who is obviously pizzed off bout having to leave the stack of donuts back at HQ,,,!!!!!!!

 I started telling him what I had seen and he kept cutting me off with quick questions of his and TELLING me that I had not actually SEEN nothing,,, He asks me,,"Did you actually SEE either of them taking anything out of your mailbox?" I said no but seeing as there are prolly several million Internal Revenue checks in the mail system and we have not got ours yet,I'm concerned at what they are doing at MY MAIL BOX,,,AND,,when the woman sees me watching them,,they haul azz at a high rate of speed and run TWO stop signs,,!! He asked me if I got their license plate and I showed him the paper towel I wrote it down on and he don't even write it down,,!! He asks me if I felt I had seen a crime commited and I told him ,,"I DO NOT KNOW if they took anything out or put anything in my mail box, but don't you think something is amiss here????

 THEN,,he starts asking me all kinds of questions about ME like birthday AND Social Security and then calls in and gives them MY info and I guess they run MY info as I asked him why he needed my SS number and he would not answer my questions,,,,WTF,,,??

  He asks me what I want him to do and I told him I wanted a record of having seen somebody in my mail box in case I had to notify IRS of a missing check at some point.

 I have been so dang disappointed with this AH's clipped questions and making me feel like I FU because I called in for some help, that I am thinking real seriously going to talk to the SHERIFF to ask HIM if this is how his deputys are suppossed to treat citizens. The Post Master did tell me that it still was a federal offense to tamper with the mail system, but this AH don't believe it,,!!!

 What to do,,,,???????

I'd have told the postmaster they STOLE a package out of my mailbox....federal crime

maybe it's the package of drugs for the missus she needs PDQ ??

I'm fed up of the 'passing the buck' goverments we have and yeah, the damn fox is still here...

Tampering with mail absolutely is a federal crime, regardless of the post office's status of not a federal agency.  A bank isn't a federal agency, but robbing one is federal.

Sound like the deputy gave the wrong person a hard time. Safer for him to give you grief than to disrupt the trailer queen. Maybe he knew them?
