Ok 3.5 mph 15.5 cut 4000 lbs same tractor one has a 400 cubic inch (226) 4 cyl the other has a 400 cubic inch( 301) 6 cyl. Figure same cam grind and same compression ratio 2400 rpm on both.

Which one has a bigger carburetor ???
Which one has the cam timing advanced more than the other ??

Which one has tires biting better? I thought some of the point of speed limit classes was to take the engine out of the equation? AaronSEIA

Ok guess its still to broad. Take a 180. For BOTH same tractor for both if i use 301 call it a 180 if i use 226 call it 175 cams ground to same spec set same timing same carburator on both my question is th torq curve on both. As lugging down

Generally, it's thought that a 4 cylinder lugs better than a 6 cylinder. In this case I don't know or really care. Even if you have identical everything (carb, ignition timing, compression ((which you didn't mention)), cam grind, cam timing, same exact fuel, same spark plug heat range, same ignition coil, same piston head design, etc, etc, etc...…. You fail to address the fact that one cylinder head may flow air better than the other one !!!!
I prefer to have my engine torque/power and gear ratios such that I don't expect to ever lug one down to a stall or near stall.
