 Topic: Tell me about this Allis Threshing Machine...

I just recently spotted this threshing machine. The fella is willing to part with it. Could someone tell me more about it? Can a person still get the belts? Am I crazy for thinking I could get this up and running? I have done a lot of fabrication work and am a mechanic by trade. Looks good to me! I'd fix it up! Even if someone was just a shade tree mechanic, it shouldn't be a hard project, so you'll probably breeze through it with your background. To my knowledge, there aren't many of those around.
I believe those are Rumelys painted orange, but I could be wrong.
Yes, you can still get/make belts. Just simple flat belts with splicing in them.

Some of the wood inside gas gone but i think i can make it unless someone makes parts. I just havent seen many AC threshers. Thanks for your post.

No problem!
The wood parts should be easy. I rebuilt the left half of the straw rack on one of my 60A All-Crops, but that's a bit smaller than a thrasher. Lol
If you have a bandsaw or tablesaw that will make it much easier

That'll be a question for somebody else....eBay might have a manual...maybe...I bet one of the vendors at Hutch had one. Those guys had original manuals/brochures for everything!

Steve, wasn't there a machine at Hutch?? Seems I seen one operating there in years past. I have never seen a manual for one on Ebay and I check it daily. Pretty basic machine so it shouldn't be too hard to restore to running condition. Go for it!! LOL

Talk with Arland Lepper in Iowa, he has one. A guy in Kansas is/has kept a registry of them , mine is on it. They look a lot like a 60 combine. Good Luck. Go for it.

I have 2 of them. They are rumley machines painted the Allis Chalmers orange after Allis Chalmers bought rumley company. They used up the parts stock that rumley company had in it's inventory . Painted the machines,made a few changes to them and offered two sizes.

I recently just purchased one of these as well. Many people claim that they are Rumely, and the larger sized threshers are, however; this one (22x38 thresher) is in fact Allis made. Yes, they used Rumely's design after they bought them out in 1931. My thresher is a 1936. Some of them say Rumely down the tailings elevator (diagonal elevator) and I believe even fewer had Allis-Chalmers down the side. Rumely's name was kept on some after the buyout as marketing material. Rumely was a well known name and Allis wanted their machine to sell. There were only 705 of these threshers made. As for belts, wouldn't be hard to find an old baler and pull the belts out of it and reuse them. That's my plan anyways!

Both my 22x38 A-C threshers are all Rumley except for the few Allis parts used by Allis. Also my Rumley thresher looks identical except cosmetic changes to it.. also in my Rumley thresher literature book it shows the two sizes and compared side by side to Allis Chalmers they are the same machines. Allis Chalmers just used the inventory that Rumley had in stock til used up. So no Allis didn't build there own threshing machine. Allis Chalmers never had a threshing machine til they bought Rumley and dropped all but the two sizes which they sold under the allis name til inventory was depleted.

The All-Crop got nothing from the Rumley threshers. They were a different animal all together.

Im hoping this forum is still active and that someone could help me indetify make/ year/ model of this old Allis Chalmers/Rumley threshing machine my father in law wants to get restored. I'm going to create a post tonight and get pictures uploaded of this beautifuul machine, as comparing it to similar machines online my guessis; this one is either a 1935,36, or 37. But its hard to tell and we cant find a serial or model number anywhere. ANY HELP is much appreciated. Thanks in advance

The serial number for your threshing machine is on the left side up above and behind the cylinder pulley on the separator body when standing in front of the machine.
