I have a 20 year old mower with a 22 HP Briggs V-Twin engine ( over head valve)... It started having an idle problem a couple years ago.. Ran ok, but dies if you idle it down.. Read on YOU TUBE and the double barrel carb sets between the V and two bolts on the OUTSIDE on each side of the carb... That causes the carb or manifold to WARP about 1/16 of an inch and leak at between the carb and manifold faces.... Took mine apart 6 months ago and YEP... thats what i had.. Took the carb apart and it definitely needed a "rebuild" in addition to file the manifold flat.... Looked on AMAZON and the "KIT" was about $15. and an ENTIRE NEW CARB was about $20.... so i did that.... Now it works GREAT... just thought i would pass along the info on V-twin engines with the double barrel carb... and Chineese FIX for it ( plus manifold facing)...
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

 I used to do "shade Tree" work for the neighbors and friends and even some people that I did not care for but that's what you get for wanting to help people,,,,,lol. I'd fix their lawn mowers chain saws, motorcycles anything with an engine. I quickly found out ,,,,you can try to overhaul any carburator,,,and most likely you got to open it up 2-3 times and maybe it be ok,,,and maybe not,,,!!  I started out with Ebay but their delivery was kinda slow,,,but when amazon hit the market,,,,"Git out the way"  you could order a new carb that closely resembled what you needed,,wait a couple of days,,,install and fire it up and call it GOOD,,!! I think I only had to send one carb back and they replaced it with NO questions. and I made some good dollars and didn't even get my hands dirty most times. It just ain't worth it to try to overhaul them when they are available sometimes at less money than a repair kit,,,!!

The warping on air-cooled multi cylinder engines IS a thing.  That's one of many reasons why Japanese motorcycles had individual carbs on rubber boots.... It's not so much that they expand when hot, but the fact that they change temperature constantly, and rapidly... throttle position, airflow over cylinders, engine load... air cooled engines expand in eleventeen different directions as they change temperature, they might-as-well be part of a moving christmas display.  One can 'fight' it, by trying to re-flatten all the surfaces, but the other way, is to use a more flexible (plastic or carbon-fiber) manifold, or have one side rigid casting, the other with a flexible portion (like a short rubber boot).  Sometimes they're cast so that a portion of one branch is thinner, and thus, forgiving to the flex, but as time goes by, this area work-hardens and cracks...

It's science, but it kinda sucks.
Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.

Some people rave about the fantastic luck they’ve had with chinese knock-off carbs (available for almost any engine nowadays)…. In my experience with small engines, and particularly Tecumseh snowblower and tiller engines, and Onan generators with altitude compensation adjustments and automatic chokes, they NEVER work correctly. I wish that a $20 carb could have fixed the problems with these engines, but each one was such a headache that I would never buy another cheap carb again. I wish it wasn’t so expensive and difficult to obtain quality parts in this day and age. Definitely beware of bootleg parts disguised as genuine OEM, especially on Amazon and eBay!!! If the price seems too good to be true, it probably IS too good to be true!
