190xt PTO won't Disengage

   Hey y'all. Was attempting to name today, which really means working on a 60 year old baker attempting to make it work. 

Twice the PTO jumped "out of gear" 

The third time engaging the PTO it was a bit stiff, but I didn't hear any grinding, maybe a loader kerchunk going in than the usually click. 

Now the PTO won't Disengage. I have a lever by the left of the seat, I don't see anything that suggests it's a hydraulic actuated PTO. But the lever is stuck. I've tried popping the clutch while moving the lever, moving the lever while the tractor moving, with the clubbed engaged and disengaged. I tried with the engine off. I tried turning the PTO shaft by hand and it didn't so much as wiggle. 

Any ideas? Or is it just bound up inside and I have a permanent pro now?

	So I was able to get the PTO disengaged, but then had trouble getting out of gear. My clutch through Throw is tiny barely a twitch of the foot between engaged and disengaged. It's also very close to the floor. Also, completely warmed up there is 0 grab in neutral on the power director. Don't even need the brakes to stay still. Which I'm told is not necessarily normal, despite how nice it is. Is my power director warn? Do I need to adjust my clutch to get a bit more throw?

	Drain all the drive line oils in clean buckets. Remove 3 bolts at the PTO shield and pull the PTO shaft out of the tractor. Take a hand grinder and dress up the burred splines on that shaft so it can fully and easily shift in and out of gear. Power Director clutch is working as it should as long as it doesn't SLIP under a load !!! whomever says differently doesn't know squat. Foot clutch may have a broken return spring on it ?? Pull up on the clutch pedal and if you can pull it up more, the return spring is broken. 2 inches minimum free-play.

	The doctor here to save the day! The clutch pedal does come all the way to the top. But the engage/Disengage point is down by the floor, and the "slip zone" is maybe an 1", probably closer to 1/2". If it were a car I'd say the pressure plate was worn and the disc was thin.

	That's the way I adjust them. As the clutch wears the pedal keeps coming up and up and up until there is zero free-play and the throw out bearing fails. If you start out down low you can go for many years without adjustment.

	Thank you again doc. I'll can the clutch a red herring and deburr the PTO shaft.
