What brand of tires did AC originally purchase for their newly built tractors coming directly off their production line at Milwaukee WI ?
I have a 1979 AC 7060 that is equipped with Goodyear 6 ply Traction Torque 18.4-38s. At 6655hrs, I’m wondering if they’re original?

I had a set of Goodyear DynaTourqe 18.4-30. New in 1986. Had to replace them in 2014. Yours maybe original but yours are quite a few years older than mine were when I replaced them. Based on the condition of my tires at the time of replacement I would be surprised if yours were original

As far as physical condition goes they could be. Dad's WD got new traction torques in early 80's and they look great. It has been inside it's whole life. It did not have the hours though so bars aren't worn much. I have no idea how many hrs big tractors get out of tires.

Depends on how it was used . Light field work or a tractor on pto work could rack up a bunch of hours . But if roadwork involved it will chew them up. Got a 7045 with 5800 hrs that’s on its 3 rd set

My 1965 D-15 Series 2 still has the original BF Goodrich Silvertown tires on the back, and they are still in pretty good shape.

Look for a date code on the outside of the right side tire. Will be four numbers Week of the year (-1-52) and last two numbers of the year (79)

The '70s Goodyears with squiggle tread bars had sidewall deterioration - especially on combines - we called it the Goodyear Splits. The BEST tire was the European - they came on the SAME 6600 and other series -the radials- Goodyears. IF one did not staub them or puncture the sidewall - they are still going. We see White and Agco units with 6000 hours that had a new Firestone or other brand put on and this replacement tire is worn out and the 1990 OEMs still have 40% tread. Definately two different Goodyears.

Thanks Calvin. Only number groupings I find are these: VF03X03 by directional arrow, and 225343-3. Does any of those mean a date code?

IH 826’s thru our local dealerships came with Goodyear Traction Torque 16.9x38. The 856’s came with Goodyear Power Torque 18.4x38. Traction Torque vs Power Torque, the tread pattern was the same, but the Power Torque as the tread bars wore down, the bars got wider, but the Traction Torque did not.

Thanks Tbran. Yes these Goodyears have the squiggly tread bars which have about 3/4-1” height yet. Their outer casings have numerous cracks & have began peeling some(dry rot?). No bulges yet, but figuring that could happen at anytime? I’m 2nd or 3rd owner of this 7060. I’ve put 2000 hrs on it with tillage, mowing, & grain wagon hauling to local elevator. Probably 3-4 yrs of wagon work, but it was equipped with spaced duals. Previous owner primarily used it to plant with 12row & spaced duals.
