It’s that time of year folks, Widlund’s open house. Taking a buddy with today, he’s an Oliver guy but kind of a history buff. Told him, you have to see this! The museum alone is mind boggling!

I'm lucky, they are in my backyard. Miss Mavis will bring trays of cookies, cookies of all kinds out to the garage and place them along side of their communist ice cream dispenser. I say it is communist because it gives you three choices, vanilla, vanilla, and vanilla. While she is making sure her guests are taken care of, Mr. Charlie is in the museum telling and retelling stories of the 24 row planter, the AC service neon sign, and how the two of them loaded a Gleaner onto a truck in Kansas. Years ago, Charlie's grandson told him, "Grandpa, you and I make a pretty good team. I know all of the tractors and you know all of the stories."
The 440, 8550, and the 4W305 looked majestic gathered in the corner. Displayed front and center were the 220FWA's. The 7030's and 7050 were seen sporting their black cab corners. The ground shaking 7080 was hooked up to the 7 bottom plow, but around the corner of every building was a D17 series 4 or a D21. If you have never been there, we need to go. Don't put it off. It is so completely relaxing. It is a day that costs you nothing. They have nothing to sell you. The family gives you ice cream, cookies, and stories of farming with Allis Chalmers and harvests with Gleaners. At the end of the your visit, you will receive a hand shake, a "thank you for coming", and a wish for "safe travels". It will be a day you will definitely remember. I love them because they are so good and kind and gracious.

I got several pictures from Friday, and a video of the model steam engine and threshing machine. Hadn’t used the camera for a while and forgot to hold the button at halfway to focus, so some of the pictures are a bit blurry. Had router issues here so uploading them to Flickr delayed.

Wow Tim, great post! Absolutely accurate, couldn’t have said it better. My buddy Mike K., who is an Oliver man, was blown away, already talking about going next year.

Come North out of Manson, Iowa on N65 maybe 6 miles. As far as I know, there isn’t any name.
