7040 locking differential

I'm going to be looking at a 7040 with a power director later this week. A tractor jockey has it and is saying he was told by the original owner it will only move if you lock In the differential. That makes no sense to me that is all hydraulic controlled and would not have anything to do with it not moving or am I missing something

yup you are missing spider gears - and or cro$$ shaft in diff..
