What does it take to put 6 bolt hubs on the front of a D17 Series 2?  From the 6 times I've read the parts book all the bearings and cones are the same.  The only difference is the hub cap and seal.  I always thought one bearing was different and guys on Facebook are telling me the same, but the parts book doesn't back that up.

It's been too many years ago, but I believe it was always the (larger) inner bearing and cup that were different. The outer bearing/cup remained the same. The six bolt hub design was for more weight carrying capacity. Use the series 4 parts book and then a 170 parts book ( 6-bolt only) and you'll kind of see that. On that larger inside bearing they listed two different bearing cones ( 70047751 and 70209899), but only one cup. I don't know why. Maybe one number was discontinued and it subs up to the other number ??  I also see the original 6 bolt hub was 70236706 and then the later was 70261418. I think old was a screw on cap and the later was a drive on cap.

Interesting.  The Series 4 parts book lists the following numbers:
hub 70261418
outer cup 70209983
outer cone 70209926
inner cup 70209987
inner cone 70222214

Oddly that hub number calls for a drive on cap but the aftermarket world seems to have threaded it for the screw on one.

All those part numbers are the same for the 5 bolt hub.
