Hoo Wee what a week, was on Social media a while back where a young Woman was touting her skills as a Light and Medium Duty mechanic of Diesel engines(Primary RAM Cummins and some Ford 6.0/6.7) was looking for followers so I lauded her work and added glad to see youth entering the system.
Saw all too many times back in my heydays as young women attempted to gain Mechanic Money and skills to fix their own jalopies only to fail out as could not contend with Heavy Awkward or just nasty jobs where we were on Production Rate $$ and everyone was On their own save for a Foreman offering a hand or some extra muscle now and then. Just could not hack it On Their Own. Was hoping this young woman was able to get there and voiced that. So came the Well Who are You response and a Unfollow where I just backed away. Yesterday saw on my media a Follower request(Do NOT get many), was her. Seems she may have cascaded down that slick slide and disheartened more than just I. Her total Follower numbers dropped from in thousands to a scant couple hundred. Perhaps she did anger or at least dishearten a few more.

She must have realized the error of her ways. Hope she does well in her endeavors.

Way with a lot of the skilled positions be it mechanic , electrician , plumber or even machinist or truck driver .
Pressure from others in trade and outside banter makes many quit , Son hired a young girl who wanted to learn to weld , she worked for him around 8 months and around 3 months she started part time while going to a Trade School here , she ended up just working weekends then and finished her classes - got hired by a big shop and got promoted to shop foreman for shift . Has another young lady now working part time doing setup , jig work and welding prep and she just applied to a trade school for welding . When I was shop foreman at place where I had outside trades also had a girl who was apprentice plumber , she was better worker then the Journeyman out of shop that contracted to us . Finally had to call their shop and tell them to either reign in the Journeyman's attitude and badgering her or i would ask for him to be replaced on job . |

Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.
