Yesterday was my last day at the factory, today, I start anew! In my You Tube videos you will no longer hear the phrase, "well, it's 1:30, need to go in the house and get ready for work"! Maybe I can get caught up on some of these projects now? I think that little cultivator I bought off Kenny is about to make an appearance.

Sounds like a great plan !! Aquiring another WD-45 and a plow would give you something (more) to do !!! I can see the advertising now " Mikes custom moldboard plowing. Most jobs too big and none too small".

Congratulations! Always have a list of things I want to do each day, step out to the shop, and then "Oh! Look a squirrel!" syndrome shows up. Enjoy retirement!

All that hard work paid off Mike! I'm going on 3 years at the end of April and it has been wonderful. But, as others have said you will be busy as heck. I stay swamped but its with projects and things I enjoy. Finally I can say that I'm a full time farmer but do a lot charity work also. My wife and I are new to sheep. She adopted an abandoned lamb 6 weeks ago, something she has been wanting to do for a long time. I enjoy beef cattle, so this is something different. Still bottle feeding for a little longer. Building new fence around a 3 acre field we have. Just rebuilt a old shed for her and the others that will join her when I get the fence installed. You will enjoy your time and you wont believe how time flies when your having fun.

Congrats. I retired a year and a half ago, I've never been busier or more relaxed. I'm sure you will enjoy your retirement, it's well earned.

I know that's right, will be 10 yrs at Christmas for me, I retired way early, would do it again in a heartbeat! I do try to do something positive everyday, sometimes that's just getting the whole coffeepot finished! |

WAY TO GO MIKE!!!! It's a wonderful feeling for sure!! But you have to make up a calendar for the important dates.......like Hutch!! Some things you just CAN'T miss! Take some time out for yourself also! I've been retired now for 23 years and enjoying every moment of it. Sometimes I'm so busy I can't stand it, but I am definitely enjoying it! Take care my friend and I'll try to call you tomorrow.

Thanks everybody! Doc, I like the sound of your idea. Not sure it's a business model a banker would love but hey, who needs a banker?
In a rather strange twist for my first few days of retirement, I got a call from a buddy. He said, I think we can plow. What are you doing? I basically said, going home to get the 45 and coming up! I was going to go up that way Thursday for pancake breakfast. Mike said bring a bag, stay overnight, so I did. My day ended with the most bizarre break-down I have ever had. Pulley on the power-steering pump separated. Thursday morning we went to Don's for pancakes. Mike hadn't had his fill of plowing so, went home and got the other 45. I think it likes the electronic ignition, wow did that thing run strong! I shot quite a bit of video, working on getting that posted, tomorrow maybe?

Congratulations! It is indeed a big day! Some people get a lot done in retirement...some of us don't seem to! It seems like every nice day I have something else to do grandkid wise or for the wife! Then on the rotten days I don't want to go outside! Remember every day is a gift!
God bless |

Shortly after I retired 11 years ago, we took our 6 grandkids camping. Our youngest granddaughter (then 5 years old) told our camping neighbors "My Nanny is a nurse, but Papa doesn't work anymore. He is a bum."
Welcome to being a bum! Best job I ever had. As busy as I am, I don't know how I ever had time to go to work!

Congrat's Mike! When people ask me "how's retirement"? I always say I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to try it! Little over 2 years for me. I'm lovin' life! My Father used to say "everyday is a Sunday" when he retired. He was right!! ![]() Steve@B&B

Thanks Steve. This kind of got off to a whirlwind start, going to need a few weeks of 'normal' to get adjusted.
