Well did just that today, sat up and realized the truck driving job was becoming taxing, on spare time, projects time and not getting any easier as time moved on with schedule shifts to really early hours and distances I did not want to go. So I did take stock, handed the truck back off to the owner, said thanks but no thanks. Two Docs aided that call, back/arthritis Doc said would drop me as client should I continue to beat myself so hard. Second Doc in Audiology noted the ringing increases and hearing losses as to connecting with driving the noisy straight stacked old machine, has the Audiometry reports if I wanted to see the chart layout.
Could never get the right Sacrum Iliac joint to accept the ride either, seat position was fully adjustable from floor to tight up, cab on the old Pete was confining as well impossible to change where could not recline the seat back at all from straight square up. Managed 8 months of fertilizer grain even lime hauls, hauled feed to a mixing mill, got to see aspects of farming I knew so very little on but the comfort zone would not be found and I said enough. Retired for the second time today. Edited by DMiller - 25 Sep 2018 at 7:19pm |

Good for you. Now you can get back to your projects. I'm in my second full week of retirement and have made myself useful around the house. Hopefully I won't resort to clipping the grass with a pair of scissors when my projects are complete.

Enjoy your second retirement! It is nice to work at your pace, not the boss'. Well, wife always thinks she's the boss and has a long list...., but I still do it at my pace LOL

This retirement thing - seems I have done that about 5 times now .
Here 2 months back guy asked me to fill in for a day or so on dump truck - working in city . Today I hauled 2 loads in 8 hours - 6 miles to dump a load and hauled a 1/2 load of sand back to jobsite . Yesterday sat for 8 hours - never moved the truck - had to walk about 1/2 block to portable outhouse - longest trip that day . Has been like this just about every day 1 or 2 loads out and 1 or 2 back in Could get use to a job like this - next thing to retirement - except have to get up at 5 AM |

Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.

Congratulations on your retirement, enjoy it. I retired in October '06 and then worked part time at the fire department until August '16. Sure is nice to get up in the morning and only have to do what "the boss" wants done.

I've been disabled from work since 96 and I'm still to young for early retirement. Any kinda retirement is no fun when you have regular bouts of pain. I do alright and I don't have a boss to deal with, just a mother.
