OK, time for some fun, be interesting to see how far this topic can go. It's 'silly stuff' that manufactuters or others do that make NO sense, rhyme or reason, generally just to make ours lives difficult. I'll start off...for instance.. Friend has a new Motoguzzi(2016) and loves to travel on it.Unlike the 4 HD owners I know, he RIDES his everywhere, including to and from Sturgis. So..he'd like to change the speedo from KMs to MPH. Should be simple right ? NOPE...has to goto a dealer, plug it into their 'computer' to make the change ! NOT for free either.... |

Mine is not a moto-guzzi.... it is our speaker system in the church, yea, we have some control but anything major and the company has to come with their computer to make changes. Luckily so far it has not been too much of a deal.

How about oil filters that mount to the side of an engine and dump oil all down the side when removed.

On several different horsepower Suzuki four stroke outboards the lower cowling has to come off to change the oil filter, all the other Mfgrs have the filter rather conveniently located.

You know, that some of the stuff we consider STUPID is actually a money making operation for the manufacturers? The things that really pizzz off us old pfarts are BUILT IN to the new stuff. They don't want you fixing your own stuff. The don't want to make it easy to do either. The world of "Built to Last" is long gone. Especially now, with the youngest generation....they wanna know,,,,,WORK ON SOMETHING???!!! NEVER, I'd rather go buy a new one.

Changing anything after you decide to plunk your money down is usually going to cost you! He should have decided to go with mph before he picked it up, so they would have had to done it for it (for less to nothing?). After the fact, it is just a money maker for them! David from jax
