John, did you already spray that with a clear coat? If you didn't I hope you do and NEVER repaint it. In my opinion thats one of the best looking antique tractors I have seen. Straight sheet metal and just enough rust and orignal paint to make it look good.

Nope, no clearcoat. It's just been cleaned real good. Fred did the engine overhaul for me a few years ago. I put a little boiled linseed oil on it every once in awhile. It's never going to be restored. I love tractors with original paint & decals. |

Those are some nice pictures! My grandmother's WD was bought new by my grandpa in 1951 she already handed down the owner's manual to me and now I'm waiting to finish my "C" for 4-H before I look into purchasing this WD. I always thought they were very handy and I would like a tractor with a little more horsepower.

I agree. I never met my grandpa but its kinda cool to look at the manual with his hand writing in it. I always thought it was neat as a kid because it was stored at our house for the longest time. i don't believe it will need alot of work because a couple years ago we had it turned over. Hopefully some carb work and some gas tank cleaning will do the trick. It's a nice straight tractor and it seems to me grandpa really took good care of it.

I really like good originial tractors. You can only be originial once! The tractor that stands out in my memory of the 98 GOTO in Marshalltown IA is a all originial 1951 WD.
Does someone here own that tractor? I have 5 that will never be painted by me.

Some tractors do need to be painted like my wc. By the looks of it mine has never been painted but it needs a hood and fenders so instead of having frankentractor I'm going to repaint mine.

That is my gramps WD on the Oliver drill and next to it is a 45. The WD is a 1953. I also have many implements, talking Allis- a snap coupler blade, a 3 and 2 bottom plow, cultivator, subsoiler. I'm always looking for more implements that are Allis. I plan to leave the WD alone paintwise, the 45 may someday get a paint job, but first off I have a "new" d-17 to paint that needs it badly.
