Just finished a brake job on my 180. All new aftermarket parts. Brake is still locking up intermittently. I check all the specs when installing. Any idea? I used the 1 inch balls which were suppossed to be correct. Thank you all

What was the air gap between the disc lining and the sides when assembled ?? Minimum .040" by the book.

You need the shims! Clearance between the drum and bearing carrier should be between 30 and 80 thou (going from memory). It's all in the service manual. Put the shims back in and check your clearances.

I will shim as tight as .020" and no tighter. A little lube on the axlke splines and a layer of antiseize or grease on the ball pockets are always good. NEW drum springs and band springs ??

I lubricated the balls with wd40. Everything was new. I think I’ll take apart again and check the measurements.

Check the gap with a feeler gauge thru the top opening while it is still ASSEMBLED !!! Shove the drum to one side and measure the air gap on the other side. You never remove shims. That can only make things looser unless you have replaced hard parts.
