Hello everyone! New to the forum here, and I have a small problem I'm hoping one of you can help me with.
Our farm recently bought an Allis Chalmers HD16DP. I think it's a 1963 based on the serial number (6121), and it's missing the transmission dipstick. I've asked the prior owner if he might know where it went, but I'm not betting on him finding it. So, I was wondering if one of you lovely folks had an HD16DP, and if you could give me the measurements of the transmission dipstick (overall length, position of level marks on the end, etc). I think I can make a new one if I have the right dimensions and level mark placements. I'm not horribly worried about it right now; we're just getting enough fluid in it so it will load onto a trailer and get home. I would like to have some sort of accurate and reliable method to check the tranny before we put this into regular service. It will be getting a complete fluid and filter change (plus adjustments and some hoses replaced) once it's home. Any help y'all can offer is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
