My dad had a Allis Chalmers HD3 track hoe which is now mine. i love the thing but it is under powered for the use i have for it. I'm looking for a turbo to add to the diesel engine on it's upcoming rebuild but i'm having trouble locating one. Does anyone know where I can find a turbo kit for this engine?

You're on your own. I know of no "turbo kit" available for an HD-3. Maybe a fresh engine OH along with injectors and injection pump will liven it up a bit.

Thank you. I thought I had read somewhere that people were using the D15 farm tractor (Which I believe is the same engine) for antique tractor pulling and many had added turbos. I just can't find the web site again.

the HD4 with the 2200 engine can be turboed - same engine was used in cotton picker and there they used a turbo .
H3 is a light machine and IF you are overworking machine high HP output is going to make junk out of it quickly . Look for a larger machine it might be cheaper in the long run .

As Coke said! Your better off to buying a bigger dozer! It won't stand any more power. Our 40 hp. 4wd JD tractor with loader will push more than the HD3 we have. And I hate even trying to use it anymore after using newer style Cat D4.

depending on which hoe is on the machine - my HD4 used a AC 650 hoe with 14' reach and 24" bucket - the weight of the hoe caused the machine to ride on rear sprockets and not on track rollers - broken axles and worn case bearings and bearing races on both rear housings - about $300 of machining on each rear case to get new bearing cups set into cases . Went through 4 axles also in time i had machine

check out Keystone turbos... just google them. they make kits for 45 gassers. I'm sure you could give them the specs and they can make up a turbo and manifold assembly for you. they may already have them. get out your pocketbook.
