I have a few questions about parts. Since it's difficult to find parts for this old machine could the undercarriage be updated to a newer style from a different brand?
Could the undercarriage be retro fitted with newer parts from other brands? Edited by DennisA (IL) - 12 Aug 2017 at 9:14pm |

Some IH track had about same pitch as AC track - but again that's a old machine so more than likely just made of the same material impossibly unobrainium .

Will be 6.5" pitch as noted only IH or Dresser used that much as the 7.0 on my own Allis. Nothing comes to mind close which leaves sprocket splicing to use Cat, Case or Deere rails then convert the rollers on the bottom of the truck and possibly morph a idler to fit the mounts. Daunting while expensive but not impossible.

I have a 2-71 setting out back from a machine i bought - said had no oil pressure - I never looked further into the engine or even how good it is - I am unsure of what else or anything is wrong with it - would part with it as a core engine .
Also a Perkins 6 cylinder with turbo - was in a Suburban - with a 4 speed behind it that is also up for sale |

Someone needs to hook up with a chinese company to reproduce UC parts for these machines. While I agree that name brand top quality UC parts or chain would be ideal, it would be too costly and for no more than what a lot of these old machines run, they could keep them going along time.

believe there are [arts there from China for them - but no one is importing them as cost prohibitive in small numbers that would be sold .

Was told that by a distributor from TX. They can get but the minimal order is enough to build 1000 sets for my machine or the HD11/11B series, the special order would languish in their stores room and cost them in inventory taxes they would not recover so won't do it.
