Seem to be out in force too. Hard winter didn't seem to slow these darn critters down any.

Got one off Evie's back last week. Thought it was a mole until I touched it and a leg poked out

I remember in my early 20's I was pounding in fence posts for the day, got home showered, picked 3-4 of the dang things off. Then a couple hours later my arm pit itched like crazy, and sure as day follows night there was one there. Musta been related to Charlie Browns Pig Pen, cause I was sweatin up a storm that day. Hate them little boogers.

Cold don't seem to bother em, but if you take a couple a rabbit or squirrel carcasses and put them out close to where you found them pests, and just let em lay on the ground. They next day go out and take a look. There should be HUNDREDS of them crawling all over those bait. Depends on how many you have, but if there's enough, dump a gallon of gas on em and light em off. That BOTHERS em for sure. I do that a couple of times a year and it really helps keep the population down.

Old woodsman back home would set part of the woods on fire every year, part of the reason was for ticks. Bet there ain't many ticks in the Flint hills of Kansas, they've burned thousands of acres this year.
