You all know Calyforny is almost desert.
Until it is not then all the citydots scream FLOOD. Yes it is a flood in that lots off little O'l canyon that if you look close kind of look like a dry creek bed. And today every dang one of them is running a bunch of water. An when you don't use your brain for more than a hat rack???????????????????????![]() Had mother drive into a "Arizona crossing" and her pickup truck got washed off the road. She got out but lost hold of her 5 year old that is still lost this morning. And on the other side of the county 2 women drove into a low spot one of them did not make it ether.Yes I had high water but my cows are smart and off in the thickest brush they can find. Today is the 3rd day I have not seen them looking for a hand out. But only getting down to 40 and up to 60 the grass is trying to grow even without sun shine. Spanish moss that blows down in the storm is a treat to them old girls too.https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10160493543976118&set=pcb.10160493545216118 Hay my Wonderful may have found a way for some of you to see without the long process of taking old pictures down to put new ones on. O'l Mr Shameful will have to beg the old la.................. his wonderful wife to open spacewaste then he can see too, cause all them girls seem to have it. But yesterday this time my driveway was 2 foot under water so I just sat at home other than feeding my last ditch transport horses a bit of hay. From Sat evening to Monday about 10 am 7.5 inches of rain( wind blow gauge off). This morning I dumped another 2.3 inches. So don't believe how bad the news makes it out. The animals has sense to stay out of harms way only a few people. An sadly the 5 year old that was taken out by other dumb moves. Has made more work to clean up, but hay I knew the rain would come someday, and the creek would run. You all stay safe even when some out of control stuff come your way. Be it
MOTHER NATURE or a demented "pretty machine" operator in Blare. |

Shameless has probably been up for nights now looking like a mad scientist at the control's to make sure he has all the gyros and humptegory valves pointed in the right direction to get the most out of all the moisture coming across.

How many with the name Toni Wiebe, there might be on facebook, no idea . But if you have access to it there are a lot more pictures she has under that name. Her distant cousin from Canada managed to put her name and find them.
There is a 5 foot pipe under that mess of wood. On the down stream side there are some old hunks of concrete sticking up over 2 foot. Not much of them above the water. In my 68 years t here close to 10 years where there has been water over the road. Some of those years it went over 3 or 4 times. Because once we our soaked only takes a inch or 2 in 12 hour to bring the creek ripping and roaring again. And of course as hilly as the country is the creeks all drop rather fast so the water runs a lot fast than many places. That was how the mother lost her 5 year old . Thirty years ago I challenged the same crossing the mother got in trouble in. But I had a old Chey C60 that weighs right at 12000 empty. Was about a foot deep, made it no problem but could feel it pushing. And it was only against the wheel on that big old truck. So if even a inch or 2 of water is high enough to push on the side panels of a car your in trouble. A local fire chief even got in trouble in a city car, he had spent his whole life here he sure should of known better. Many started calling the crossing he used as city car wash. I worry that Mel and company might have a lake on their AC lot as in looking at google earth, it looks like their place is right next to a small river, which probably isn't so small these days.

Well a friend offered to come with his big excavator yesterday. Took just better than 2 hour to clean the wood, rocks, and mud in opening of the old pipe.
Ruffly 400 homes at the end of the road are trapped as much bigger creek than mine has culverts that failed. I want to say 6 big old 10 foot ones. in 100 - 200 yard fill. Water got down a rodent holes and has 2 of them washed out. The road way on top is intact, but the pictures I saw a 20 by 40 foot hole in the fill with pipes just sitting there. They started bring equipment last night. This morning dump trucks have been hauling, as many as they can get room for to dump I am guessing. As FEMA is here with declaration of federal disaster you all get to help my neighbors out. Many of those homes are lake front weekend places. But with the covid work from home many left the big city and are full time living 25 mile from town in the brush. So I only know a handful of them at most. I went looking for picture as news site is where I saw the damage. Had my helper copy and paste, but I see now another FB pic s I don't know. https://www.facebook.com/groups/267209473812706/ If this is not working it was taken from SLO CO NEWS in my google search. Lot of flood pictures there, from the whole county. But very ironic to me the other side of the washout 3 or 4 miles is a lime quarry where they blast solid rock to the size they can put in quarry dump trucks. The quarry gate is the end of publics access. But a number of subdivisions with private access behind locked gates. In past disasters they have hauled from here. Just several years ago to the Big Sur highway 1 mud slide, boulders that one rock was a over load on low boy trailers. |
