Hi all! Have been lurking for a year now and finally registered yesterday.
My name is Jared. Live near Birnamwood Wisconsin. Bought my first tractor last year, a 52 pin hitch CA. Got it for $1850. Came with the original manual, draw bar, 2 bottom pick up plow, an old spring tooth drag, and a non factory custom back blade. Was also delivered from over an hour away. I was happy with the price. Didn't grow up on a farm but made my money as a kid rock picking and working in ginseng gardens. Worked on the neighbors dairy farm as a teenager. Drove mostly farmalls and the occasional massey. The CA is mechanically sound and in great shape. I'm the 3rd owner so I'm told. Was going to hold off on tires till this year but last fall one of the rears that had ok tread but some checking started leaking fluid from the checks. Figured I'd have all 4 done right away as it had car tires on the front. Pricey but worth it. Had no oil pressure showing but I learned from this site about the often missing oil riser tube in the filter. Yup it wasn't there, Made one up last summer and pressure is right where it should be! Moved a lot of snow this winter with "Mr Tractor" as my 5yr old named it. Did learn that I want fluid back in the rears as I spun tires a lot. Lots of little things I want done yet like new plugs wires condenser, wiring, hydraulic hoses, etc. All ok but would be good things to update. It's got a few little leaks here and there but really not too bad for a 67 yr old machine ![]() Wanting to start getting some more implements and stuff as we have a small hobby farm. The wife and I both work full-time. We have two boys age 5 and 1.5. No day care or baby sitters. No sleep! Lol. She works 1st shift and I work on 2nd. Anyway, gotta get things rolling here. Look forward to being able to ask some questions when they come up, maybe meet a few of you, and make some purchases from the classifieds ![]() Jared |

Welcome, The CA is a handy tractor. We have one and it gets used regularly.
If you aren't aware of this, you can use the AGCO on line parts books at Agco Parts Books . Click on the view books, as a guest user. On the next screen put CA in the model and select AGCO Allis as manufacture and it should bring up the CA parts book. Edited by Jim.ME - 11 Apr 2019 at 3:10pm |

Thanks for the welcome and links, guys! Steve and Alex, I'll be in touch one of these days as I've checked out both of your sites in the past and have ideas already
![]() Every year I try to get to the Edgar Steam and gas engine show ( been going for years as I grew up in Marathon) and since moving to Birnamwood have gone to the tractor show in Shanty Town as well. Probably a good chance of seeing some of you at one or both ![]() |

Edgar is the only show I attend regularly. Only missed I think 2 since 1991. Best be looking for two more tractors. Kids love them. Bought mine her's when she was 8 months old. Since I moved, Birnamwood is a bit more of a drive for me, but still willing to help hands on if I can.

Welcome, Jared. The CA is a great tractor - seems to have more guts per pound than anything else on four wheels here.

Welcome, Jared. Sounds like you have a great family to go with your great "new" tractor. Consider joining a tractor club. I belong to The Allis Connection. We're on the internet at theallisconnection.com. Our annual show is at The Amana Colonies in Iowa on Father's Day weekend. Send me you address & I'll send you a newsletter. dhauter45@gmail.com. A great magazine for A-C folks is "Old Allis News". Published by Dave & Heidi Clausen at 471 70th Ave./Cty. Rd. J, Clayton, Wisconsin 54004. 715-268-4632. oldallisnews@amerytel.net. There's also the Upper Midwest Allis-Chalmers Club. They put on "The Orange Spectacular" in Hutchinson, MN on July 26 - 28, 2019. It's a great show. Motels are in short supply, though. Need to book real early. Welcome to the world of Allis-Chalmers. Dan Hauter.

![]() Here's Mr Tractor and my five yr old. Actually still four in the pic as this was the day the CA was delivered last June. Wanted my wife to get some pics from this weekend as I worked this 67 yr old tough guy probably the hardest it had worked in who know how long, lol. The kids kept her too busy though unfortunately for her to get a chance ( and remember) to snap a few pics. Cut down and dragged out 12 twenty yr old black spruce trees that were part of the wind break for the house. A couple of years ago they started looking sick and last year were well and truly dead. Don't know if a disease or bug or fungus. There's about 30 more that don't look too good. Probably be cutting down and replanting for the next several years. Most of the first row is down though. Holding out hope that the other two rows recover. We had one heck of a bonfire this afternoon in the corn field across the road. :) Mr Tractor snorted pretty good a number of times slipping and sliding and squashing through the snow and mud underneath! A few trees were cut in half before hauling so that the front tires weren't off the ground. Lol though they were dang loose 90 percent of the time. Glad I put tri ribs on the front...could actually steer a little! Great little tractor that helped immensely with this job! My neighbor drove his big New Holland over to push the trees up into a bigger pile and we lit it up. A great Sunday :) Jared |

Chris, don't know where exactly you are located but here's a CA in Loyal that just showed up on cl....
https://wausau.craigslist.org/grd/d/loyal-allis-chalmers-ca/6865856050.html My five year old since he was two has been wanting an old farmall A that's sunk a quarter of the way into the ground 1/4 mile from the house. "We can fix it up" he says. I keep meaning to talk to the land owner about maybe dragging it out if the price is scrap or maybe a tad more, lol. Not an Allis but simular to the ginseng and hay raking tractor I used to drive as a teenager. Might be a good one to learn about engines and tractor fixn'. He has already claimed Mr Tractor for the crop farm he says he's going to have as a grown up, too. I said "you're not going to have any cows or animals?" He said "Just chickens and maybe some goats. No I don't want cows. I don't want to deal with milking them every day all the dang time" Lol, that cracked me up :) Jared |
