I picked up this A-C (wagon OOPS!!) (Also have a wagon question) RAKE

My dad bought one of those one time we tried it with the snap couple hitch and then with 3pt hitch and it never did work right on our hilly ground.If you have flat even ground it might be OK.

I think there has been a previous discussion about the lift arms and I may have posted these before as I readily had the pictures, but here they are again. I have also experienced problems with the lift arms come out of the latches, especially if the ground isn't even. I tried using chains for the lift arms, but that allowed the rake to swing left/right too much and hits the rear wheels. It is a neat rake, if I could get it to function properly. Anyway, Ted asked for some pictures of the lift arms, and I don't know if PMing them worked, so here they are. Dave

Got a suggestion . Put a chain like third link on three point and let it hinge where hitch fasten to rake. Then put a swivel dolly in front and let it float .

Re the snap coupler lift arms, drill a hole, in the shaft, under the lower jaws, parallel to the top bolt of the existing SC lift arms, of the tractor's SC clamps, and insert a 5/8 bolt or round stock, like a AC bush hog has, and the arms won't jump out of the coupler...
Hope that made sense...

After looking closely, there is a lot of damage to my front part of the rake.
Here is what it looks like. The pictures don't do it justice..... Remember, it was run over by a CAT... The worst part is where the S/C Yoke is to hook in and the left & right sides are really bent all to heck. Notice the left (as you face it, facing rear) side has a bolt pulled completely away from the tongue part. Is the top parts supposed to be bent or straight? Any pics will help me. If you guys that have pics of my damaged area, can send them to me, it'd help. In this pic, you can see the two main rails, but you really can't tell how bent they are... Notice the welded on part for the top link. He had turned it into a 3-point conversion. ![]() You can see how the left leg is bent outward and down! Parts pulled away and welds broken. ![]() Down & out ![]() Pulled the bolt right out (bent) and the makeshift tension holder.....What is it SUPPOSED to look like? ![]() This is the left (as you face rear) main beam. Is it supposed to be curved? I KNOW not THIS much... ![]() Are the bolts around the PTO / pulley supposed to be this long? Is something missing? Just above it is something with 2 holes, like a bolt or something should go through. See the add on ears for the top link of the 3-point. ![]() That's about the best I can do with pics...... Anybody near me in La Crosse have one, so I can take a look at it? I probably need measurements also..... Thanks, Ted |

I bought a rake identical to that one a couple years ago. Finally got it home last fall over Thanksgiving weekend. I haven't tried using it yet. There is another one just like it listed for sale on craigslist; either western MT, or eastern Idaho. Darrel

Ted, here is a picture of the front of my rake. Hope it helps with some of your questions. I don't have those four bolts you reference. I kind of suspect there may have been some sort of pto cover bolted on there, maybe? Can't tell from the picture about the other two holes, so will have to go out and take a look at the rake. The jack had been broke off of my rake when I acquired it, but did manage to find it in the seller's shed and then welded a bracket onto the rake to bolt the jack to. Dave

Ok, Ted, went back out and looked at my rake. The two holes you reference had a pin going through them to the bracket the idler/tightening pulley connects to. On your rake it looks like that pulley was moved to the left (as you face the rake) and a fabricated piece welded on for the pulley bracket, so I guess you have it taken care of. Hope this helps.
