I went to an auction last weekend since there were some AC parts in the pictures. There was a C and then a WD but I don't need any more tractors, right? So I don't drive the big truck and trailer - just the little truck. It was a well attended auction but apparently nobody was interested in the tractors. I ended up with the C and the buyer of the WD was also just outbidding the scrappers. Kind of sad, but I'm glad we saved them. Cs and WDs also aren't the most desirable tractors anymore, I suppose. I also saved a truck bed full of parts.

Then a random guy comes up to me and asks me if I want another C for the same price. He lives close by. I check it out and decide it is also worth the money, even though it hasn't run in two years. I drive back up the next day with my trailer and load them up.

The auction C is a 1943 and the guy used it as a puller. The 28" rears are interesting. I drove it onto my trailer and other than some minor leaks and the usual non-functioning brakes, it seems pretty good. I think it will be a good match for my 11x7 John Deere FB-A grain drill, and for jockeying equipment around my back yard. Maybe I will put 24" wheels back on it and find a cultivator for it someday.

The other C is loose and has quite the homemade 3 point hitch and hydraulic pump setup on the rear. It's a 1947. Ironically the brakes work in that one. I also found a plaques from a couple different local pulls on it, so it was also someone's puller once upon a time. Then I noticed some junk in the bottom of the grille and it turns out someone stuffed some lead weights into it. Those need to go before they damage anything. I have never had any interest in pulling but I guess if I ever have any downtime I could give it a whirl with the '43?

Is that a plate of steel made to adapt those wheels?

Or is that a WC wheel center bolted to a C wheel center ?

Those are two nice finds and both have aftermarket seats which are a plus.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.
