I've been told that 'smart phones' have an option to 'lock orientation' when picture taking. If locked ,pictures will be stored ,dispalyed and sent properly.
Now I don't have a 'smart phone' but that's what I was told.... I do know how they work internally and may explain why I will NOT own or use one.

Maybe I'll get my 11 year old granddaughter give me a lesson, she doesn't have a smart (or any other) phone but knows a lot about them.  Grand ma lets her play with hers.

Apple devices taking pictures mark them for what is down no matter the camera orientation. PCs don't read that marker. I use GIMP to edit pictures and it recognizes the apple mark and allows rotation to get the picture right side up.

would GIMP be Gerald's Invention to Manipulate Pictures?
(I wouldn't be surprised if so). Wink
thanx as always for sharing what you know.
3 Ford 8N's I loan to neighbors, but the '52CA, '41B and little B1 I do not.

GIMP is a free PC windoze and linux program for working on pictures with nearly all the capabilities of Photo Shop without the cost of ownership. I didn't invent it, but I use it. I have created a fancy picture drawing program that is used for radar maps at weather.net.
