I have a 3 point hitch two row planter made from 50 series AC planter units mounted to toolbar. These units have the double disc opener and rubber press/drive wheel in the rear. I've had the planter for one year and everything seems to work as it should, except for closing the furrow. I've planted corn in different soil conditions (no-till bean stubble, lightly worked ground, and loose roto-tilled ground) and it does not consistently close the furrow very well. Is this a common problem with these older planters? Is it feasible to replace the rubber press wheel with a set of newer V closing wheels? Any help would be appreciated.
