So I'm slowly taking pieces off when I can to clean up and have as much ready for painting this summer when it is much much warmer than now. I have the front wheels off and noticed two different things that I think need attention. The front wheels hubs likely need the bearings repacked and tightened up as I can push and pull the hub an 1/8"-1/4" in and out of the spindle. I m thinking tightening the castle nut will take care of that. Bearings spun smooth. The other thing I noticed the slop in the steering spindle from the steering box. I ordered a service manual, parts catalog and operators manual and see that the front bolster will come off with six bolts and there is a coupler in there for the spindle. My question is, without tearing into it just yet, do you think the slop is in the coupler, the bolt and washers retaining the coupler or wear on the spindle shaft itself? It's not noticeable at slow speed but very much so when you get going faster. Even more when you can move it 1/2" or so side to side (about) and the steering wheel doesn't react.   Oh I should add it does have power steering. Is the spindle tapered to just snug it more with the bolt and washers?

Thanks Jay
