Here is my new purchase a 1967 D-17 sereis IV with 2500 orginal hrs. and paint except for the rims which I just finished repainting. The cab was put on shortly after it was bought new in July 1968. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

mark. am really impressed with your 17. i'm from central ohio and have not seen any d series tractors with a cab before except for the 21's. your tractor reminds me of those pictures we would see in a coffee table book of tractors from europe or maybe canada. still american but still unique. a lot of our amish neighbors like to put cabs on their utility tractors and drive them to town in the winter but as yet no 17's for abraham or jonas with a lid on it around here in amishville.
am assuming those fantastic looking rear rims will spin all the way in; is the step up a factory item for that cab and are those the correct front rims for a series 4? me thinks my old series 1 17's had a narrowerer front rim and off set than your pretty boy has.. what a great and unique 17 you have! tp studer, wooster, ohio.

What I would have done to have one of those back in the day.We did not have a grinder/mixer on our farm as the local elevator 1/4 mile away did all our feed mixing/grinding.Lots of cold trips back and forth with the auger wagon.Would have come in handy spreading manure when the wind would change all at once.LOL

Thanks for the nice words on the tractor but when I bought it I interested in just the tractor because of the condiction and having only 2500 hrs. and being I got the fenders with it I figured I could always take the cab off If I want to. Answering few Questions 1) they are oringal tire sizes 16.9x28 on back and 7.50x16 fronts 2) The platform on left side makes it nice to put gas in or to wash also it has a hook on it to hold the door open. 3)I have the oringal operators manual with the tractor, signed by the orginal owner in which delivery record shows it was delivered on July 1,1968 Serial# 87079 that sould been manufactured in 1967. Once thanks for the nice words. Mark

Beautiful tractor and cab, Mark!
Can you send some more photos of inside cab? I bought one from Eldon, and want to mount it on an AC 170D, (just about same tractor as your D17).
How much room do you really have inside.
Can you mount a little trainer seat on left side or left back....thinking of my 2yr old grandson? ha!
How's the noise level inside closed cab?

John, 89213 is the last serial number. None were made in 1968. Clean looking tractor though!

Ive got the same cab on a Series III Mark. How do you like getin in and out thru those narrow doors????? Seems like the noise reverberates thru the cab. I took the doors off and the side windows out for the summer, sure made a nice canopy. I put them back on for the winter, just used mine yesterday to move snow with the blade, kinda nice being inside!!!!

I usually don't like old tractors like these with cabs on them but you 17 just changed my mind about that. NICE tractor!!

Skipwelte, we have about the same thoughts on the cab, being my doors have been changed to hinges instead of sliding open gives me a little more room to enter. As for the noise all after market cabs had that problem, I'm hoping by better sealing around doors and windows, maybe upolstering roof and fenders and floor mats might cut down on the noise. NCBruce I don't think there will be enough room for a buddy seat.Personally I would look for a Hiniker brand cab, I had one on a AC 185 years ago and really liked it, all the windows could be taken out for summer driving or you could even install air condiction in them like I had in mine.
