Fireplace blower CFM adice

   I want to order one of those elongated squirrel cage blowers for the fireplace.

However I have no concept of how many CFM output I need.

One thing for sure I don't want one that sounds like a jet running up.

Any advice would be appreciated

	I want to order one of those elongated squirrel cage blowers for the fireplace. However I have no concept of how many CFM output I need. One thing for sure I don't want one that sounds like a jet running up. Any advice would be appreciated

	an average blower motor in a pickup truck puts out 300 cfm... thats on high speed and they are somewhat noisy.. but you get an idea of the volumn... The BIGGER the fan and SLOWER it runs, the less noise you will get. elongated its normally not the quite type.. BIGGER cage, SLOW speed is quiet
	Like them all, but love the "B"s.

	We had one on our wood stove as a kid but that was eons ago... it ran slow and pushed the heat thru a flat rectangular tube under the stove.... I think you want to gently push the air away from the heat source so as the guys are saying slow and the size to fit your heat source.

	My elongated fan on the fireplace has a variable speed control on it. Set it were you are comfortabe.

	They're ALL noisy.. PIME ( Pain In My Ears ). I was going to repLace the PIME one here but 'cheated'. Turned it OFF, turned on the overhead ceiling fan. At low speed,it's ultra quiet and pushes all that hot air DOWN and through the first floor. Problem solved...

	I can't find my order so I don't know the cfm. A couple of tips tho. It needs to be anchored solid so no vibrations. The one for my stove has felt like pads that go under and behind the blower chassis. As was mentioned above, I put a variable speed control on mine. Basically a dimmer from HD that is for motors. Put it in a box. From the box run a power cord, I just used romex, to someplace on top of the stove, and attach the two wires to a thermal couple. I think mine is a 150 or 170 degree unit. Connect that to the power and the other to the dimmer. and the other side of the dimmer to the blower. Mine is on a gas log, so I'm not sure how this will all work on yours if it is a wood burner. I used the dimmer to adjust the fan to an acceptable noise level. I also have a remote control to start my stove and it has a thermostat remote. So the stove is entirely automatic, except I need to turn on and off the pilot light. Google, gas fireplace blower motor There are many that come with an entire kit for what I explained above.
