Don't know any thing about this model but seem to remember hearing or reading they were made for Allis.
What diesel engine is used in them? Easy to install a water heater for cold weather starting? Do they have a differential lock? Thanks for any information you can give me. ![]() |

It is a Perkins 4 cylinder. It is very easy to put a heater on one and it has no differential lock, at least mine doesn't.

The 170 is an actual West Allis built tractor. Not some European model painted orange.
They used the Perkins 236 diesel engine - very reliable and efficient. Very easy to put a heater on it, might already have the manifold heater as well. As others have said, there is no differential lock offered on these tractors. |

The 170 was built by Allis Chalmers. Basically a D17 series IV except the diesel had a Perkins.

Thank you for the reply's with the information I was seeking.
I like my D17 just the loader is limited in what it can do since it is a light weight model with a trip bucket. This tractor doesn't Look all beat up either for a 1969 model. ![]() |
