I took the tank out of the 1960 f 100 beat on it with my fist , got a bunch of rust out,  let it air out 2 or 3 days. Then I treated it with 2 qts red kote, turned it slowly till I thought it was coated all over, then turned it once every 20 min.for about 3 hrs. Let dry in diffrent positions for three days, put it in the basement at night to keep out of the dew. It's all back together, but the gas in my clear in line filter is RED!! Is ths normal for first fill-up??? I don't want to mess up a brand new Holley I just bolted on. Thanks , Keith

It must not have been dry yet.. Gas should not be red.. I would drain the tank and let it dry until you can no longer smell it.
Unless your are the lead horse the scenery never changes!!

I used Red Kote in the tank on my '37 WC but I didn't put gas in it for about 2 weeks while I was painting it.
