I would be all over that 390, looks like its in good shape. Good machine if you have a small farm and keep up with the maintenance it requires. Nice chopper also.

Yes, the D17 went for $2100 power steering, narrow front, good rears.
The semi mounted 4-bottom plow sold for $200, was earlier than the monobeam style.
390 haybine $700
720 Chopper followed me home for $375

You did well on the chopper.  Are you going to use it?

No I don't think I will actually chop with it. I might hook it up to a tractor and see if everything works. I will probably resell it for a restoration project or sell parts off of it. I wouldn't mind restoring it myself but I just have too many other projects. I was bidding against the scrap guy and didn't want it to be gone forever

Haybine brought more than I thought but looked like a good one. I would love to see that chopper in operation, looks way too nice to part out.

No I don't have it anymore, sold it to an Allis guy to use. I do have some NOS parts for the 780 and 720 choppers. If you know what you need, I might be able to help.

Is the shearbar for 780 original equipment and how much is the sharpening stone for 780 I need one of these and I don't have any parts books I'm kinda needing the complete sharpener for 720 and I think it's a different setup because knives are smaller and was the 720 a better chopper than the 780 or do you know anything about that

I would chose the 780 over the 720 if I were planning on using it. The 780 became the 782 with very few changes, mostly sheet metal. I have a 780 with a one row head. There were very few 720's sold so parts are going to be hard to come by. If planning on chopping much I would find a parts machine or maybe two of them. Tom

My dad has a 720 sitting in the cow yard for the past 35 years. I don't know if he'd sell it but he might. It's missing the wheels and wobble box.... the box went on his 390 haybine... same box.

he never used it although it was complete at the time it looked in good shape having always been shedded up to that point. He bought it at an auction just for that wobble box. It's really a shame it's sat out since then.

Which model did AC build for Ford ?  I saw a Ford sell at a sale a number of years ago, only brought a couple hundred bucks but I'd already bought enough stuff for more then a truck load and let it go, kind of regret it now.

Just wondering if anyone might have a head to fit a 780 or 782 allis Chalmers silage chopper would possibly take a 1 row or 2 row wide but really would prefer a 2 row narrow and one from a ford silage chopper would work also

2 row narrow row heads are hard to come by.  I have only seen one.

I have a one row head I would sell.

Im in far Northeast Iowa.

Noel, you'd be better off starting your own thread.  I''m surprised that no one has mentioned it as yet.  You'll get people that KNOW what it is you need and relevant answers.  Adding onto someone elses thread just confuses people and if they've already looked at THIS thread, they won't come back again and so you won't get any help.
When you're on the MAIN page, you see the headings of:

Farm Equipment
Farm Equipment -Knowledge Base
Construction and other equipment
Garden Tractors
Shows and Events
Classifieds
Forum Talk
Shops, Barns, Varmints, and Trucks

Depending which part of the forum you want to post in, ( you'd want to post in the "Classifieds" and possibly in the "Farm Equipment" sections ) choose the one that you want and when it opens in a new window, you will see in the upper left corner the name of the forum you want and right under that, you will see a button to click on that says [ New Topic + ].  Just click on that and then name the thread topic and post what it is you're after.  You won't have to search through the thread for what you want and your answers will be just about that topic.  HTH....
