very modern looking tractor for its time... I am more curious about what it is pulling, dont really look like a plow, although appears to have a furrow wheel and some settings like a plow would have. Great pic anyhow. Ya think it is set here in the states or foreign?

q4016lanz is the closest to identifying the first pic. According to the caption with the picture, it is a 1923 2 cyl pre-chamber Benz-Sendling diesel.
Below are a couple of pics of later models of Mercedes-Benz OE dieselschlepper, similar but different. Note the differences: front axle spring, wheels, air intake, lights/no lights, fenders/no fenders. The second pic is labeled 1928. (the year they were introduced)

...and without confusing things further, here are a few pics of the three wheeled version of the Benz Sendling in the first pic taken at a show in Booleroo Centre, South Austrailia in 2007. The write up on this tractor:
Benz-Sendling S6, S7 and S8
The Benz-Sendling S6 was externally very similar to the T3, with the same single-speed transmission, but the key difference was the use of Benz's two-cylinder diesel engine. This was a compressorless, pre-chamber design, which was started by turning over at reduced compression with lighted touch paper inserted into the pre-chamber. The bore and stroke were 135 x 200 mm and it produced 25hp at 800rpm. The engine was much smoother running than a direct-injection diesel, but was let down by the complicated and unreliable starting procedure, and stories are told of farmers leaving their tractors running all night to avoid having to restart them in the morning! The first three prototypes of the S6 appeared in 1922, with production commencing the following year - over the next few years the design was modified slightly and the horsepower increased in the S7 and S8 models. ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by GBACBFan - 04 Jul 2011 at 3:56pm |

Noticed the implement is a horse drawn type, and the wooden tongue, or tree, has been replaced with a chain. Bet that was a jerky ride?!
