Paul,
Could you post a picture of the B/C side weights used with a longer bolt? Might help someone working on this old iron too. Folks, I just cleaned up the longer, lower steering arm, the side weights, and the knobs they set on. Shot some high build primer on them maybe I can put some of that shiny PO#1 on them soon. The crude paint booth has helped reduce the over spray in the shop a lot! This old CA was a misfit when I bought it and hasn't gotten much better in my possession either. I did talk with Brenda at Sandy Lake Impl. and ordered a seal for the PTO shaft. That may reduce the oil dripping from that area? Still have a pesky leak from one of the rad hose connections. Like most of the other Allis tractors we have, they all mark their territory! Also dropped off the IH rear wheel weights to get them cut in half. They have several saws that should make short work of those. I am going to make some brackets and sq tubing to allow our 15 lb weights to be added if needed. Here is the short arm, key, gear and bolt. It almost fell out of there!:) The old sandblaster helps clean these items back near original condition. Regards, Chris and Cheryl

Guys,
I did get the parts painted to put the steering back together. Just like you guys said it steers much better with this long arm installed. Should make a comfortable tractor to handle. The tractor would have worked with the short arm, but it is much better with the change to the long one. A nice ride in the dark down the road was positive. Oh yes the lights work great too. May not win many pulls but will present itself well. Regards, Chris and Cheryl Edited by Sugarmaker - 10 hours 60 minutes ago at 9:24pm |
